What Was Your First Real Estate Investment Deal? Share Your Video

As many of you know, we've been doing a bit of experimenting with video and we were hoping to get all of you involved as well.  With that in mind, we're hoping to put together a real estate investor's video diary, compiled of videos shared by you.

This project will be posted to our BiggerPockets Blog, and we're hoping to get a lot of submissions; we'll be doing our best to promote the finished project, which means that those people who do share their stories will get the opportunity to get some great free PR.

Here's what you need to do:

- Create a 3-5 minute video that discusses your first real estate investing deal.  It doesn't matter what kind of deal it was -- buy/hold, rehab, wholesale, bird-dog, commercial, etc --all that matters is that you give some details about how it came about, what you did right or wrong, and ultimately, if you made or lost money with it.

- Please be sure to open your video with your name, location, the name of your company (if any), and be sure to mention that you're submitting it for the "BiggerPockets.com First Investing Deal Video Project."

- Do not use your video to advertise or promote your business.  If you do any form of promotion beyond the name of your company in the beginning of the video, we will not accept it.

- Upload the video to YouTube, and make sure it is embeddable.

- As long as the video meets our quality standards and the above conditions, we'll share it to our large national audience in a post that compiles all of these entries.

Please be sure to submit your Videos by Thursday, December 3, and notify us of the video using our contact form or by leaving the URL as a reply to this forum thread.

Please post any questions below.

  2. Well, sadly after two trips to the store and finally exchanging the camera had been given to me, I can't get the thing to work. Maybe next time. I'll have to invest in a more substantial camera.

  3. Last call . . .

  4. Anson - Do it now and get it to me . . . I've got 2 more of you who want to do it, so I'll wait until Sunday. Lets make it happen.

  5. Damn, this was on the back burner...

  6. Last chance for people to get a video in . . . please get it in by this morning so you can make the cut!

  7. Hey Nick, are you doing a video? You are a YouTubin' kind of dude...

  10. Thanks for the submission, Sam! Keep 'em coming guys!

  11. Josh, I'm new to the site and relatively new to the investment business, but compiled this video of my first deal and hope that you all enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI_zpUm5Qu0 Thanks, Sam

  12. Thanks, Josh. I'll see what I can do for a video. Won't be pretty, but it'll be an experience.

  13. This should help Charles: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=57409

  14. I'll check it out. I know my laptop has a camera built in. I'll check out YouTube to see how to make it all happen. Hopefully they have the YouTube for Dummies version of the instructions.

  15. Charles - If you have a camera on your computer, YouTube allows you to record a video directly from their site.....

  16. Seeing the grandkids and reading this post makes me feel old. I have no clue how to upload a video. I think my digital camera can take video clips. Perhaps, I'm not the only technically challenged investor.

  17. Thanks Charles - Hopefully you'll get a video in to us as well...

  18. You are doing a awesome job Josh............keep on keeping on.Charles

  19. will get my video to you in time Joshua -- visiting family for the next few days. expanding to video is a great medium and will take BP to the next level! I wish I had about a year jump on you on video :) I'm sure you guys have heard of this guy? If not, have a read... http://iwearyourshirt.com/

  20. Nick - I just happened to be wearing the shirt, and don't mind supporting a company that, as Jon says, cared about their customers -- namely BP. No, I didn't get paid to wear it. That said, it raises a decent idea for advertising opportunities -- sporting the logo of a company while doing some videos . . .

  21. PayPal had a bit of a conniption earlier this year over a certain BP thread, so I don't blame Josh for supporting a competitor who listens a bit more closely to its customers.

  22. Who's WePay? I hope you got paid for that advertising :)

  23. We've gotten our first video submission for this group project thanks to Jon Klaus . . . if you want to share your story with the BiggerPockets Universe and get some great free PR for yourself and your business, get your videos in today!

  24. Fantastic, Jon.

  25. I plan to shoot my video tomorrow.
