Back from Thailand and Hong Kong Honeymoon

I’m Back!!
After a 2 week adventure exploring Thailand and Hong Kong, I’ve finally returned to the wonderfully smoggy city of Los Angeles. WHAT A HONEYMOON!
I’ll share a bit with everyone:
We started our adventure in Bangkok, which is a city very similar to LA. It is huge, congested, and full of some of the worst traffic I’ve ever seen. We were treated like royalty at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, visited the Grand Palace, Chinatown, the Chatuchak weekend market, and various temples, rode Elephants, visited Lumpini Stadium for some Muay Thai Boxing, saw the floating Markets, and more!
From there, we flew to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. We roamed into many of the city’s temples, went to the night market, rode more Elephants, relaxed at the Spa, stayed at the Unbelievable Chedi Hotel (the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in), and ate some amazing meals. I wish we had more time there so we could visit the Hill tribes, but we could not.
We ended our Thailand adventure with four days on Tsunami ravaged Phuket Island. I was expecting a quiet beach community, but was plunged into a hectic Asian version of Cancun. The island is sadly overdeveloped, which is good economically for the people, but bad for the once pristine island. We mostly relaxed by the beautifully isolated beach at our hotel, the Le Meridien, where we got daily massages beachside for only $10 US. We did take a speedboat tour to Ko Phi Phi (Phi Phi Island - where they filmed “the Beach”), which was unbelievable. There, we snorkeled with sharks and thousands of tropical fish, saw monkeys play on the beaches, and got to experience paradise.
Since we just did not want to go home, we added a few days in Hong Kong to our trip. What a city! I’ve never seen so many skyscrapers in my life. The subways were immaculate and the people were extremely kind. We went to many of the sites: the Peak, the world’s longest escalators, Ngong Ping 360, and once again, ate some fantastic food!
It was a trip I will not soon forget!
I’d like to send a special thanks to Charles Feldman for running BiggerPockets while I was away. I think he did a great job in my absence.
Finally, as I mentioned before leaving, I will be announcing a new feature on the site next week . . . stay tuned!
