What books are you reading to IMPROVE?!

Hey Everyone,

I am an avid reader whom enjoys books that help me to grow and develop myself in a variety of ways! I'm curious to see what everyone is reading, and what impact it's making on your life?

Whether that's in your business, relationship, personal growth, skill development, career, real estate, or your quality of living! Books make a profound impact one everyone's life, and those who choose to read and develop themselves keep ahead of the curve in life, from what I've seen.

Currently, I just finished off with Hardwiring Excellence by Quint Studer! Quint is a leader in the field of healthcare in the United States, through the book he dives deep into how to increase patient satisfaction by getting to the main cause of the problem. He speaks about how to retain employees, help employees and leaders within your organization be successful and pull you to success, rewarding and recognizing behavior that aligns with your value and goals, goal setting, and much more! The book is a fairly easy read, and although directly for those in the healthcare field, the skills, practices, and goals can be transferred into almost any company or business. His main focus is on creating a workplace that has a commitment to: Purpose, Worthwhile Work, and Difference Making. This is done via the Healthcare Flywheel, this is initially turned by passion which results in principles being developed, and finally results, which fuels more passion, and so on; success creates success. The stories and real experiences from using these techniques and skills are very interesting, and this book is filled with them. Of course the book has its downside, its a bit of information overload. In order to extract everything from this book, you need to take notes, there are so many different strategies, and bits of connected information its hard to consume it all at once. Some may see it differently, but the lack of pin point focus creates an environment to forget important facts and strategies. Overall an absolutely amazing book, and information packed! (4.5 out of 5)

Those who are interested in either the healthcare field, leadership, business development, personal development will treasure this work of art, or at the very least take a few notes they can use to succeed!!

    I just finished reading 10X by Grant Cardone, it is a very motivating and encouraging book, it is a quick easy read. I am about to start The 4 disciplines of execution after listening to the BP podcast with the author.

    @Lance Hitz. I’m about to start “So good they can’t ignore you” by Cal Newport. Have you read that one?

    Right now the form of improvement I’m after is my hard knowledge. I’m been soaking up everything Ray Dalio has to say on macroeconomics and cycles. His “Principles For Navigating Big Debt Crises” is available for free online and worth studying. Taking time to pause and breakdown videos he’s created about the workings of the economy is invaluable.

    On Audible I’m listening to Currency Wars by Jim Rickards. Just finished listening to The New Case For Gold by the same author.

    @Lance Hitz If you're interested in 10X and are into Audible, Grant Cardone reads the book and does a really nice job I think. It feels like he's talking to you, not reading to you. I highly recommend it.

    Ego is the enemy and Obstacle is the way, both by Ryan Holiday, also a podcast guest, I think are good. Reading them and other stuff he has done led me to learn about the Stoics. That has changed the way I think about some things or at least broadened the thinking.

    @George Griffeth

    I am on similar track trying to understand the macroeconomic trend such as deficit etc. impact on economy.

    On the Robert Kiyosaki series now. Just finished Audible "Rich Dad Poor Dad", "Fake" and moving on to "Guide to Investing " then " Cash Flow Quandrant"

    Highly recommend "Fake", where he pieced together quite a few alarming red flags I noticed/observed.

    I will check out what you read too. Thanks

    Hey @Lance Hitz, currently reading Meditations, almost done and it's been a wonderful journey with this book. Incredible for self-development and a new way of thinking about some important things in life.

    The book is consisted of personal notes of one of the most powerful Roman Emperors of all time - Marcus Aurelius - notes he wrote to himself as reminders of important things he didn't want to forget.

    Might be something you'll enjoy too...

    Hope this helps?

    Great suggestions! I have a lot of books to check out now. One book I’ve read lately that really had a huge impact in how I see personal development is Atomic Habits by James Clear. Persuasive, actionable, and just a really good way to set your environment up for inevitable success! His website is pretty incredible too. To add a little something different to the conversation... what reading lists or funnels do you all use to decide what to read next? Brain Food from Farnam Street is an awesome weekly one, and Ryan Holliday’s is pretty interesting as well. That list is emailed monthly.

    @Marcellus P McKinley

    Never heard of that one! Sounds very interesting!!

    Usually I just use the BiggerPockets Podcast, I write down the real estate and business books guests suggest, I do some research and see what interests me! Super useful part of the podcasts! I find it especially useful when they interview authors as well, such as Cal Newport! I just finished his So Good They Can’t Ignore You, But I wouldn’t have have stumbled upon him at this time without his podcast interview!!

    (Podcast #330, Cal Newport)

    @Lance Hitz, Not to keep blowign up the thread, but anothe rone i just read that was really impactful for me was A More Beautiful Question by Warren Berger. it discusses the huge importance of questions in life, and hemakes a pretty compelling argument for questions being the new currency of the future. the Why/How/What if construction he uses in the book is worth the price of the book in and of itself! kind of refreshing in a world full of people tyring to give you the answer to everything.

    I'm currently reading The One Thing by Gary Keller. He's the author of a few other real estate books that are excellent as well, and this one is right up with there! It really focuses on, well... focusing! In today's world of constant distractions and the need to feel uber busy, this book breaks it down that busy work is not the goal, but focused work is. It truly is something that I constantly am working to improve, my ability to focus on meaningful work. I could write on forever with this book but just trust me, it's well worth the time and money!

    Have a great day!

    Justin
