Two of out of state Agents one upset.

Two of out of state Agents one upset.

I need a bit of advice here.

I researched a out of state agent in Kansas Topeka where I'm looking to BRRRR. He was a decent agent I was in contact with him for about 2 months. I found

My core 4. Real estate agent, Property Manager, lender, and contractor. Everything was looking to be working out fine. But the property manager is an elite PM and he works alongside a rock star agent, My PM recommend I work with his agent because they work investors so my decision was to stop working with the initial real estate agent I was in contact with since he didn’t really work with investors and didn’t have the same level of experience. Well I told my agent to cancel my buyer agency agreement because I wasn’t interested in investing in Kansas anymore but was very unwilling to do that. He finally did but it was filled out wrong and I asked for him to re send it and he called me out and told me he’s not an idiot he knows I found another agent and to not lie to him. I then told him the truth and that I felt bad wasting his time but that he is a solid agent but just isn’t what I’m looking for. The new agent I have sells the majority of homes to investors so it only made sense to make the change. Should I feel bad for the agent I fired? What could of I done differently. I’m a natural people pleaser but I also do have boundaries. I just want to learn from this so I in the future I can decide if it’s wise to juggle multiple agents at once or maybe create a different system to choose one:

I"ll give tough love.

In my opinion you should feel bad for lying to someone who has been helping you.   You didn't respect him enough to be honest with him and you didn't respect your own opinion enough to be forthright.

Take ownership of the issue. You could have been honest with him and it might have helped him while resolving your concerns at the same time.

    @Sylvia B.

    Everything the core 4 have said has been solid the only real struggle has been changing from one agent to another which caused some issues for me. I could have prevented those things from happening but I’m glad they happened to me that way I can learn. Thanks for you input

    I’m lost where everyone is saying you lied to the first agent? I must need to drink another cup of coffee.

    Anyways. If you did lie to the first agent, it happens, keep in mind they need to eat too and don’t do that again. If you didn’t lie and you just wanted to switch, that happens too, you need the right people for the job. What you could do next time is make sure you ask qualifying questions based on your needs and go with the best candidate. That will save you from this situation again.

    @Nick Rutkowski

    Thank you I did lie and I own up to that lie.

    I have a better understanding of how to screen an agent so I don’t waste any particular agents time.

    I learned in any situation to be direct and honest about my needs as an investor. Expectations i have in the agent and expectations I set on myself to work with that agent. I have worked with many agents in California and they have liked my work style but going out of state became more a challenge but I do enjoy figuring out this core 4 and fine tuning it. After reading BRRRR I decided to action and I have and my intentions is not to let obstacles get in my way of my goals. It's a tough lesson of authenticity but I fully embrace it and glad it happened.

    Update I talked to all three parties and repaired the mistakes I made. I formulated a plan to have both agents and my PM happy including myself all while building relationships. I’m grateful to have found bigger pockets thank you all for the support!
