Anybody familiar with TAUNTON, Massachusetts?

Hi everyone,

I am thinking about buying my first Multi family home in Taunton, Ma.  I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the area, renting, crime, employment etc.  Thank you.

I can only give you a very one-sided picture because I've only lived here for 2 years, and in one of the low income areas. There are definitely high crime parts of Taunton to avoid. I've been told by numerous people that it hasn't always been like this/they didn't think Taunton was that bad. I would avoid areas near the green and the 138/Bay St split. The more rural areas I'd imagine are much better, I've just not spent any time there so I can't say for sure
