Do you need a real estate attorney in California?

Hi, I'm doing a sale with a realtor in California! It's my first time selling in California and I know our state doesn't require an attorney. Question, has anybody used one while selling? Also, how much roughly was your attorney? If it worked out well, do you have a recommendation?
