Buying a Home with a Bad Street Name.... :|Hooker Street

Would you invest in a home with the street Name "Hooker" ? Will the Street name affect the value ?

There's a town about 20 minutes from us by the name of Gay. It was a guy's name back in the day. To get there from here we drive up Gay/Flat Shoals Rd.
As culture changes, ordinary words take on different meanings and that sometimes impacts their acceptance. Hooker is a last name and most likely that's where that street name originated.

    @Darius Kellar Should be fine. You can always petition the city to change the name, unless it is some historical figure.

    There might be one of two people that are that petty, but most won't care.  The location and the house are more important than the name of the street.

    You are probably right as Hooker is a last name.  There is Hooker's sea lion-named after a person.

    Here in Ft Wayne, there is a street "Harry Balls" named after a former local Mayor. People really get a kick out of it, but by no means let it effect the value of there homes. I remember when we could buy homes for 25k, that is sure a thing of the past.

    Joseph Hooker was a famous Civil War general.  I know of no connection to Michigan but if anyone asks tell him/her exactly that.  And nod you are sure it was named after him.

    Chinese people who practice Feng shui don’t like to buy houses with 4 in the number because 4 is a homonym of death in Chinese.  As stupid as this sounds, it does in fact have an impact on home prices.  A house is only worth what another human will pay for it, and other humans sometimes think crazy things.

    I can't believe there is a streetname like this. But of course name matters. I would think twice if I want to rent/buy on this street. Don't want to explain myself when I have to enter that adresse on any documentation. So for sure it will effect prices. Did you check the comps with the neighbooring streets ?

    My Grandma lived at 513 Gaybar in West Covina, California   when I was a child, 50 years ago.  The house was even pink, with a cool pool in the backyard!  Bet its worth a half a million now...
