Do I need to register as a foreign LLC for vacant land ?

I'm about to buy vacant land in one state, but register it as an LLC in another state. There will be no building, construction, business going on the land. Do I still need to register as a foreign LLC in the state in which the land resides?

You (the LLC) will have to get approval from the state to do business in that state where you are buying the land. Why are you buying the land if you aren't doing anything with it @Hugh C.?

Merely land investment for future appreciation in direct path of progress. We will not engage in any business regarding the land (paid for in cash so not even a mortgage payment). Since there is no business activity we want to know if we still need to register as "doing business" in the said state as a foreign LLC (held in title by an LLC out of state).

This is a legal question. You will need an opinion from a competent business lawyer to answer this.
