Please let me know if you may have referrals for an investor-friendly CPA and bookkeeper in the Los Angeles area.
My wife and I both retired from W2 jobs and we are starting a small business to rent an ADU early next year as an MTR. We need help with setting up the accounting part of our business, managing the day-to-day finances, and filing taxes. Our first goal will be to rent the ADU but our second goal will be to rent a lake house in Vermont as an STR. Future projects could include flips or rentals in other states.
Thank you very much for any help that you can offer.

You posted this in the tax forum where we have 20+ highly qualified tax professionals. All of us are answering questions here and providing help. Most if not all of us work remotely across multiple states, including California of course; being local is not necessary in 2025.
One thing we are NOT allowed to do here is to respond to you with: "I will be happy to help you" - it is considered a prohibited "self-promotion" by Bigger Pockets rules. Likewise, we cannot send you a private message and offer help, however some people will do so anyway.
If/when the moderators move this post to the Classifieds section, then I and my colleagues will be able to offer help explicitly. Until then, the ball is in your corner, and here're some tips: https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/51/topics/1222774-expla...Hi Tyler, congrats to you and your wife on retiring and looking to to start a small business!
If you're looking for someone in person, I have a good friend near Calabasas/Westlake that I could connect you with. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you his information.
On the contrary, if you're looking to work with someone remotely, I would highly recommend checking out a few of the tax professionals answering questions in the forums. Do a cold outreach to their office's to see if it would be a good fit. Many of the tax professional who are active in the forum have shown their knowledge for you to see.
Either way good luck!

I see a lot of people in the forum, outside of Classifieds, posting things like Happy to work up an estimate for you OR Feel free to reach out and we can discuss one-on-one and the moderators don't do anything.
I think those are just suggested guidelines, but not enforced. Are you sure this is still the way it works?

Depending on your retirement date it'd always be good to look at any tax implications while 2025 is still open (ie before year end).
I understand that it's great to be local but if you're open to national I Agree with @Michael Plaks

I would agree that national is better as you open up the pool of people. As others have said, look on the forums to see who's active and has been active for a while. You can also use the tax pros feature as well! Best of luck in your search!

Hi Tyler, congrats again on retiring and starting a new chapter with your small business!
If you’re looking for someone local, I actually live in Los Angeles too. Which part of LA are you in? I’d love to grab coffee sometime and connect in person. If you’d prefer remote, though, you’ll find a lot of great tax professionals active here in the forums—many of them work with clients all across the country, so being local isn’t a requirement in 2025.
A good next step would be to check out some of the tax pros already answering questions here and see whose approach resonates with you. You can always do a quick outreach to their office to see if it’s a good fit.
Either way, wishing you the best as you get this new venture started!

Congrats on retiring!
It seems like you are keeping yourself busy in retirement by building up a rental portfolio.
What are your income sources in retirement(401K, social security, IRA , etc).
You want to have a discussion whether some of the rental activities can help you offset your income.
Best of luck!

Hi Tyler! Have you thought of hiring offshore? We have a lot of great CPA and bookkeepers in the Philippines! Our company can provide you with that for a very very low cost unlike hiring someone locally. Hope you can consider! Let's connect!
