Hi everyone, i am struggling to figure out how to get central ac R22 Compressor replaced! No one wants to repair it, but wants $5500 to replace the older one. I have a lot of students loan debt, which is making it difficult to find financing. Any ideas??
@Alfred Ofori I can't tell what market you are in but I would suggest going to some facebook groups with this question. So, I live in Texas. If I search for "Texas Real Estate Investing" under the groups section...several come up. And those groups of THOUSANDS of local investors in them. just ask this in a local/state group page and you should get some answers.
I'd probably start by getting 2-3 opinions from different HVAC companies before making a decision. If multiple companies are telling you the same thing, you'll have a better idea whether replacing the system is actually necessary or if there are other options.
With older systems, especially ones using R22 refrigerant, repairs can become more difficult and expensive over time, so sometimes replacement is the more practical choice. But I wouldn't spend $5,500 based on one quote alone.
For financing, I'd ask the HVAC companies if they offer payment plans, and also check with your bank or a local credit union to compare options.
Sorry you're dealing with that. I'd advise getting a few more quotes before replacing it. Sometimes one contractor says it needs replacing while another can repair it. If it really does need a new system, then you can compare financing options, but I'd want to be sure replacement is the only option first.
