Coin Operated Dryer Box is Full and Won't Open

One appliance guy basically told me, 'Good luck.'  I refuse to take that as an answer with nearly $200 in the machine ha!  Anyone ever run into this issue before?  Im assuming the coin box is full and so it wont open. Can't find ANYTHING online about this sort of thing happening.

Aloha,

Shake the coin drawer while simultaneously pushing/pulling the coin slide. The coins can sometimes get bound up in the drop opening. If no luck, try tipping and shaking the machine about 45 degrees left/right, then forward/back while trying to shake/pull the drawer (two person job).

Set a reminder on your smart phone to pull the coins every 30 days, or whatever time frame will not lead to this problem again!

    If nothing else get a locksmith to drill the lock and open it. Obviously you'll then have a lock that needs replacement, but you'll have $200 to do it with...

    What @Richard F. said! Back in the day, when I used to collect coins myself and count/roll them on the floor before taking them to the bank, I’d find them stuck every once in a while (yes, usually the ones I failed to empty in a timely manner). Tip it, shake it, tilt it, play with the key at the same time and it’ll give. Ever had too much mail in your mailbox where that lever won’t move the 90 degrees it needs to move? Same concept!

    First off, make sure you never call that appliance tech again!

    Second, this is fairly common. The box is too full and it's jammed the mechanisms. Try the wiggling, shaking, smacking, etc. If you still can't get it, call around to some different appliance techs. I'm in a town with only two appliance technicians and both of them are capable of opening a jammed coin box.

    Thanks all for your replies!  I did get it open, but it cost me $200 to the locksmith to drill it out. I get a replacement box from a local laundry store for about 30 bucks and we are back in business. Lesson learned, dont forget to pull coins!
