Just wanted to connect with investors that are currently investing in southwest Michigan! I live in CA but I invest primarily in buy and hold rentals in MI at the moment - I work with a trusted team there. Since there are not a lot of posts about Michigan investments on BP yet, let's share some experiences, contacts, deals etc!
There definitely are not many post from Michigan. SW Michigan is a great area to invest. We currently have 26 units in SW Michigan. Mostly duplexes and 4-units with a few single family properties. Currently under contract with a 30 unit mobile home park. Lets connect - let me know if you questions or need connections in the area. Our team is pretty active and networked in SW Michigan.
@Dave Hutson Hi Dave! I live in Colorado Springs and work in Denver. I wanted originally to start with at least a duplex, but with a 25% down requirement on multi-families that's not an easy task, so more looking at SFRs now. I'm looking for long term buy and hold, but intend to watch the market closely once I have some rentals under the belt, and may eventually sell and try to buy some more locally if our market ever dips down some. The eventual goal is to have rentals in a few different markets. A diversified portfolio tends to be less volatile over time. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the area and any recommendations you have. Thanks!

@Michael B. I'm a new investor in Lansing Michigan. Focusing on 2bdrm1bth small single family and duplexes. I currently have 2 of the single family homes and 1 duplex. All free and clear with positive cash flow. Just looking for ways to do cash out refi's or leverage my properties in another way to acquire more properties.
@Charles Kao No relationship to Josh Tanis that I know of. That side of my family is spread out quite a bit over the generations. Looks life the FB group is a wealth of information!

I’m an investor located in MA. I currently have an investment in MO -single family- that is cash flowing nicely but the market is drying out in that town and I’m looking into different markets. Looking into MI. I have and I’m still considering Detroit but after some research it sounds like SW MI maybe a better bet for the short term.
Your post caught my eye not just because Lansing MI seems to be getting attention as a good investment area but also because you invest in 2bd houses. Most investors shy away from those but you seem to be doing very well. Im interested in connecting to pick your brain a bit about your market and your strategy if that is okay with you.

My wife and I were able to purchase our first SFH this past fall and we are trying to pull off a "live-in flip" while we get it ready to rent out. Our goal for 2020 is to get the home ready to rent by the end of 2020.
