This is the fourth Santa Barbara Real Estate Investment meetup in this series. It is an informal opportunity to sit down with others who share your excitement for real estate investing. Our attendees range from energetic novices just getting into the game, to seasoned investors who have been at it for decades. NOTE - in an effort to keep this meetup focused specifically on the investment side of real estate, we are asking that attendance is limited to only those with a strong interest in real estate investing.  Spencer will be coordinating the Santa Barbara Real Estate Network happy hour that will have more of a broad real estate focus.  Hope to see you all at both :-).

    @Charles Cooper - it is this Thursday at 6pm.  You can find the info in the event description above. Looks like it would be a bit of a trek for you if you are down in San Pedro, but would be great to see you there!

    Looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it tonight. I recruited some folks from the Ventura REIA meetup last night so should be a fun crew. Also I noticed that I scheduled this for the wrong Thursday so sorry for the confusion. We will be back to the third Thursday in November.

    Hi Shannel. I was coordinating a monthly REI meetup here in Santa Barbara, but attendance started waning when Omicron started picking up and I opted to put it on pause. It's looking like things are calming down on the COVID side again (fingers crossed), so I may start it up again soon if the interest is there. Out of curiosity, is this something you would consider joining on a regular basis?

    Have you ever attended the Ventura REIA meetings with Lloyd Segul? I attend those on a regular basis and they are great!

    On another note, curious where you currently own?  My wife and I have been pushing hard for a place on the Avenue in Ventura.  I think that is such a great area with so much investment potential.  No offers accepted yet, though.  Tough market!

    @Baird King I'm located in Ventura as well, keep me in the loop in case of any more networking/social events. I have been to Lloyd's events in Ventura and have invested in mid town Ventura as well. 

    I agree with you about the investing potential on the Ave and know a few local agents if you ever need one. But as you already know Ventura is a hotbed in this current market and it's tough to get a property where the numbers make sense.

    Hey @Baird King Thanks for the reply! Yes, I would absolutely join on a regular basis. No, I've not heard of the meetings with Lloyd Segul but I am actively looking for meeting in the area, can I find them online? 

    I currently own in Portland, Oregon but I'm a Ventura native and am looking to invest here now. I have a close friend and fellow investor that owns a few on the Ave. I hear you, the market has gotten a bit crazy. She found her most recent deal by looking at a property that had been on the market for 75+ days, I believe, then she held her price firm, the seller walked away and eventually came back and it's paid off.

    @Shannel Lee very cool! Yes you can find the info for the Ventura REIA at the link below. Sounds like your friend would be a great person to get involved as well. I would like to pick her brain about her experiences on the Ave. I will definitely keep you posted about the next Santa Barbara happy hour. Looking forward to meeting you and chatting more.
