Hey Guys! I am a new investor, I'm looking for advice on the people I should be networking with in the beginning to start out? Also what type of questions or information should I be looking to obtain. Thanks Kyle

Lenders, title companies, agents, wholesalers.

Building relationships with lenders will get you better terms in the short-term and long-term, especially if you're active and doing multiple deals a year.

Title companies will give you investor discounts if you ask, and they can also give you leads.

Agents are always looking for deals. Make sure to find an investor-friendly agent who knows what to look for in properties. Investment properties are very different than retail purchases.

Wholesalers will give you a steady flow of deals to look at and can refer you to other investors!

Welcome to BP! @Marcela Hoag nailed it for the most part. I would just add that it depends slightly on what type of investing you are doing. If you plan to BRRRR then you will also want to network with contractors. Or if you are thinking of wholesaling you will want to network with other investors so that you have buyers for your deals. You will also want to connect with a good insurance broker.

Start going to local meetups and ask people that you meet who else you should be looking to connect with as a new investor.

Network with the people you want to be. If you don't know what that is sit down and do some thinking.

Go to your local meetups and REIA and watch who runs the event and also see who everyone seems to gravitate and want to talk to. Those are the people you need to become friends with. Having superconnectors in your circle of friends is like networking on steroids.

@Marcela Hoag Title companies can not give you investor deals, their rates are fixed. They definitely can help with leads and marketing and support.

@Kyle Buchanan You want to network with investors, not all the other people before you are ready because all you are going to get are lenders saying they are the best, agents saying they know investments (but have none), and other ancillary providers trying to sell you. When you meet other investors at your new level or one level up, they can tell you who to go to and who they used which will expand you network in a more efficient fashion.

Hi Kyle - I just created an account, so my apologies for the late post!

I'm a real estate lawyer here in London, and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have (difference between owning investment vs. principal residence property, types of tenancy agreements, types of co-ownership/joint venture agreements, etc.).  If you'd like to connect, please feel free to contact me!
