I'm looking at a house that needs foundation repair, any tips on finding a quality contractor? The few I have called wont give me a quote on the job which is concerning. The damage does show in the floors as well as the outside. Would this be a deal breaker for you?

It depends what part of the country and how common it is there, in some places foundation repair is common it can be a $7k-$12k fix others it can be $40k, they need to see it in person to give a quote, and this isn't something you go to a GC for, go to a foundation company, and if there aren't many in your area it might be a deal breaker because it is likely to be on the more expensive side.

I spoke to ram jack recently. They are a foundation repair company. I believe that for each pier they install to support the foundation they charge $2500. They told me that you need a pier every 5 feet where the foundation needs additional support. It could get very expensive. To get a real estimate call a company that specializes in foundation repair. They will need to look at the issue to give you an estimate. You may need piers in a section of the foundation at the edge or you may need piers throughout the foundation.

I have a very similar issue. I used AFS in the past for waterproofing and structural support to a few beams in a Birmingham home. I won't EVER use them again.
I recently came across another home in Birmingham that has a substantial crack in the foundation and basement shows areas of water. Called Ox Foundation and APS. APS gave me an estimate for 34k just for the foundation. Ox estimated 8k-12k for vertical beams but they believe a few beams would need to be replaced. Ox specialist advised me to call a GC for beam repairs and said he would refer me to a few. After multiple calls and texts, he has yet to do so. Neither estimate included waterproofing.
