Hello! I'm going to start an Financial Independence Dallas Meetup (how is there not one already?!). Are there any financially independent people (or well into the journey) in Dallas that would be willing to share their story with me?

Hey Ryan! Great question. My inspiration is largely stemming from the Bigger Pockets financial independence podcast. And yes to your other question. I am looking for people who have been able to user real estate, investments, etc. to gain passive income and are now able to focus on things they really enjoy doing.

IS there a forum, FB group, or meetup information someplace?  I seem to be having problems finding any information for the DFW specific group

There is a Choose FI Dallas group that meets on occasion. They have Grant Sabatier coming to speak in March. Have not participated yet in any meetings but would like to and am all in favor of more such meetups happening. Especially coming from the perspective of RE as the primary driver of reaching FI.

I think this is a great idea, and attend these types of meetups near me frequently. It will probably be a slow build, but people who are on the path to FI really seem to be looking for that community they aren't getting in their regular life - you're just a frugal weirdo to most people. Connecting with other like-minded people has been so beneficial to me on my journey.

Side note, meetups need to be posted in the Events forum, so once you figure out when and where, please make sure to post in the right forum.

My guess is most people that have already achieved financial independence are not going to make it well known to others.

@Jeffrey J Szcinski II I know of a ton of full time investors in DFW. I think they are mostly attending the other REIs right now. There are at least 4 every month just on larger MF investor groups in the market. Are you just looking for people who make all their income from passive or relatively passive investments? Or is "Financial Independence" a program or education group?
