Than Merrill of Flip This House will be speaking at my local real estate club in July. Has anyone seen him speak or attended one of his bootcamps? His Website, Fortunebuilders.com, lists a 5 day program for $3,497 and a 4 day rehabbing bootcamp for $2,497. He also sells a CD course for $1,197. Makes me feel like I’m in the wrong business! It will be interesting to see how well his program sells in the current environment.
I went to a boot camp in Orlando. Than is a high energy guy and he was a good one for a first time boot camper, but if you have been to them in the past, you can order his books online at ebay and get out of them nothing new and exciting. His mentor is Robin ? out of Orlando and she learned all she knows from Ron Legrand, so you sort of see where this is headed?
Than has some good ideas, signs are a big thing for him, says 40% of your sales come from the use of signs in the area. Another great idea is a truck or vehicle to leave at big intersections to advertise. The rehabber, Paul, is a better sale, because he knows what he is doing. I think Than needs Paul more than Paul needs Than. If you are an investor, I would look online on ebay and see what you can pickup at a discount.
Warren, I was thinking the form disk ( Repair estimate sheet), kitchen / bathroom template....labour material and pricing how to structure and line up paperwork and outline the process of doing renovation...
It is a reference manual that tells how to prescreen contractors...etc..
here is my thoughts on the stuff i purchased via eBay. I think its great info, kinda nuts and bolts. worth the 100 bucks on eBay.... if your into nuts and bolts and don't need the the fluff... one bad thing is after reading it. the info is all in this form if you look and take your time to read this form. so its your call. Same thing goes Anthea... Google and this forum is your friend, the buy the materials... I choose to buy books and tapes bc i find it supplements what i read here. Anthea you have to be aggressive if you want to make it RE you can not sit and wait for people to hand you things.
Hi Ray,
I am not looking for handout...I am quite capable of buying what i think is necessary for me but i thought that this site was about sharing / giving info for free....I didn't think that paying $1197 was worth it, believe me I have been checking ebay hoping to land a deal like you....Des had promise to call me with some info , i am thinking it might be on where i can get a better deal ...i don't think it is a handout of any kind....I know sometimes people get caught up with other things and so forget so i think i was aggressive enough in attempting to remind him......all i ever ask for is for info to determine if it is worth it to pay $1197...
The course manual is good but I got the most out of attending the bootcamp.
I don't know the costs anymore, but if the manual is $1,200 I would spend the extra money and attend the bootcamp. When I went in 2008 I think it was $1,995 plus you get the manual.
After attending the bootcamps back in 2008 I've now done close to 40 rehabs; many fire damaged and full gut jobs, that I would have never done without the knowledge gained from the bootcamp.
I was browsing Fortune Builder's site, hoping to find out more info about their Rehabbing Bootcamp. The website says you must already be a FB student in order to be able to purchase a ticket to the Rehab Bootcamp.
What was everyone else's experience? I'd like to check out the bootcamp before I sign up for mentorship, not the other way around. I am still in the beginning stages of my education.
