AI vs. Actual Work

An agent told me he'd worked so hard for two weeks. He hadn't closed a single conversation.

He said it like it was a badge of honor. I asked him to show me what he'd actually been doing.

He pulled up Claude. Then ChatGPT. Then a system he'd been building for two weeks straight — formatting templates, testing prompts, tuning workflows.

I asked him a simple question: have you talked to a buyer or a seller in the last two weeks?

He said no. Not one.

Everybody looks for the laziest way out of the work they don't want to do. AI is a really good way to do that, because it feels productive. It isn't, if the actual job — talking to people — never happens.

AI should free you up to prospect and manage clients. It's not supposed to replace either one.

Has AI ever made you feel busy without actually moving your business forward? What did you change?
