How many units do you own?

I’m curious to see who exactly visits bigger pockets. Is it mostly newbie/wanna-be investors or more seasoned/experienced investors? If you are investing, are you in state or out of state? I’ll start by answering my own question, I currently have 6 units out of state and will be adding as soon as I find another deal, how about you?

16 unit’s now, 4 of them in-State. Looking to add to the portfolio, though prices are very overvalued right now, making good investments more challenging to come buy. Plan is looooong term buy & hold. I’m building a source of generational wealth for my family to hold down through generations. Beyond a source of funds to live one, I’m initially looking at the portfolio as a means to fund the college educations of my kids, their kids, & so on.

This is the most encouraging thread I have read on this awesome site! I am trying to acquire property number 2 (duplex) so to see so many people post numbers over 20 is exciting!

I have always wanted to know how many people on here went from a full time W2 to full time REI.

Brian Adams that’s great to hear about your success! I’m currently holding 21 properties. All in-State Southern Colorado. I live in Denver and own an oil business out here. I am very interested in getting into large apartment buildings. I would like to learn from you, if you have some direction I could follow. Maybe a course I could take or seminar/education recommendation. I am not an accredited investor yet, as I’m just getting into the low $100k/year. Thanks for any help you can give. Happy Investing Everyone!

I went f-t REI sooner than any normal person should with a young family in '02. After studying and learning all I could from the library over 2 yrs, I quit the cubicle and moved 3 states away to a doublewide by the river where our housing costs were less than $300/mo for everything. A $42k Heloc from our house we lease optioned in CO was our seed capital. Grew to 30 units or so while living in the trailer park for 5 yrs, driving beaters and eating pb&j.

Sometimes your freedom why overwhelms you. I was not commuting or answering to anybody anymore. I had had it. Ready fire aim is not recommended, but how I transitioned. Thanks for asking this question!

11 properties, 13 units all in one town. Trying to decide if. I want to keep buying or pay them all off. I met my goal of 10 by the age of 40 last month. I can retire at 50 with an income equal to what I make from my current day job.  Really struggling with quality if life over a large income and pride of a large company.

Hello, I started in August of 2017 and now have 4 SFH rentals all in state. 3 are PM and 1 self managed. I’ll be adding 1-3 additional units this year. BP has been a great resource for me. Thank you to all that post and reply.

13 all in the Denver metro area. Started buying in 2010 and still buying now when deals make sense. Shifted focus to for sale new construction townhomes, currently entitling a 12 unit project.

We have 4, One out of state, that is a student rental for my step daughter. We have bought and sold another four doors in the last couple of years. Rehabs and we got our Cash out to do other things. We are looking for more but are in that cusp of needing to think about how to scale. We are spending more time asking questions like what does scale look like to us, refining our buying criteria. We don’t really want to do syndications or work in permanent partnerships (at least today), and it’s also important to us to not bet the farm on the success or failure of one deal. We are beginning to think about small multi family deals, or maybe even building, and we are interested in getting familiar with and accessing commercial lending.

I guess I would consider myself a newbie with experience or a veteran without experience. I always try to learn but can’t seem to learn anything. I am still trying to figure out if going solo or partner up on an out of state SFR or multi family unit would be better for my investment strategy. Currently I own one property and I rent it out to myself. Still looking for the right numbers that fit my strategies.

5 units. 2 sfh in Silicon Valley and 3 condos in grade A+ neighborhoods in San Francisco. That’s where I stop my grade A portfolio. I plan to keep that intact. I will now start accumulation of B and C multi family units out of state as cash flow only vehicles and intend to do that over the next 15 years.
