Potential Tenant Application Flagged as Fraud by TurboTenant

Hi all!  I had yet another potential tenant submit an application through TurboTenant without ever calling or speaking with me.  This was the first red flag but nothing new -- I've had this happen several times before.  They just submit an application and pay the fee hoping to muscle their way in and so you think they are serious about renting.  They pay the application fee without even knowing if the property is still available.  Another red flag:  1 person renting a 3 bedroom house all alone.  Anyhow, this is a first though TurboTenant flagged the submission as fraud by using Snappt.  Through Snappt, you can actually see where they modified the paystub and bank statement.  The "clean" copy of the pdf was pretty clear but it had slightly different font sizes and the decimal points did not line up.  I could tell there was something fishy but also could see where someone else not having the ability to have the application scanned for fraud and being desperate to fill a vacancy could have been fooled.

Just another reminder on how important proper screening is and how careful we all must be!  Good luck and be vigilant out there!
