Can anyone recommend a done for you service for fighting property tax increases?

Hi everyone,

I'm getting very tired of ridiculous property tax increases every year, but I don't have time to fight them. I own 8 single family rentals, can anyone recommend a good done for you service that can fight these things without taking much of my time?

Hey Joe, I fought my property taxes in Comal and Guadalupe county Texas this year. You are in Bexar county I think and probably have the same process that we have here. It is really simple, I had my realtor get CMA's for all of the properties that I was protesting. It took him 10 minutes for 6 properties. I filled out the form and protested online with the tax appraisal office, and about six weeks later I got "offers" from the county for lower valuations than what they had originally proposed. Two were appraised $10K less, one $25K less, two $50K less and one $104K less. The whole process took me less than an hour. $246,000 off of my total appraisals for those 6 properties which is about $5K a year less in taxes....... Or about $5,000 an hour for me to fight them!

I don't personally, but you can try calling the company, and ask for 3-4 most recent jobs they completed. See if you can get a hold of the people who used them before, and you can ask them.

Yup, it's called "VOTING".

Know all those times people told you local voting is UBER important, and ya didn't? Well, there ya go. Get active in the process, put the right people in power, get active in the process, volunteer, go out and tell people to get off the couch and do it to because it matters.

Other then that, there is always taking up drinking....

Hey @Chad Maghielse - There are a ton of these tax appeal attorneys here in Chicago.  If you shoot me a PM I can refer you to a couple of the guys we've used.

No offense to any of the attorneys, but I've found that these guys are a dime a dozen.  I should probably look more into them because I am sure some are better than others, but they guy we use gets are taxes lowered so I can't complain yet.

That’s awesome. I never done any online stuff like that. We fill out the protest forms and mail them in and then I get a phone call sometime later and I try to present my case. I used to show up in person until Covid, and they made available online protesting.   I had a realtor give me Comps before and the comps they gave me was higher than what the county was trying to appraise my property. I guess the realtor was using inflated Comps that Wholeseller‘s use. Lol.

Ha!  I'm with you. Screw all of this. Why put the time in for anything? What was the question again? Google "property tax appeals", maybe pay your kid (or somebody) to filter thru the results for you. I'm too busy laying on the beach with a cocktail. I'll check back after Jeopardy is over.
