Just spoke to a individual at Lifestyle Asset University. They offer coaching and pretty sounds like they guide you through and help you set up your business and support you on acquiring your STR and help set you up to maintain the most cash flow. It's $4,800 for the entire coaching program.
I am not big on coaching programs the fact I’ve gotten where I am in my own and local resources. However this is a different endeavor within real estate and hard to find resources that will volunteer to hold your hand

@Javen Harris
I have seen it as a Facebook targeted add and looked into it and it never really gave much info. Seemed really hush hush about what they were offering. My take was that he was trying to convince you that you can own homes in multiple areas and bounce between them as a lifestyle while making money on the rentals when you are not there. I never saw price but for 4800 That seems crazy!

@Joey Morea After speaking with someone from there, they guide you through the process and you have access to their resources. They walk through each deal with you as well. I think I’m going to probably hold off and find my own education. I just need to find the right mentor.

@John Underwood I agree, I just need to find the right person to help with accessing my first STR and whether or not to be a host or be hands off etc. placing it in the right host hands

I recommend setting up a call with @Avery Carl and @Luke Carl. They have both held my hand to help me get started and continue to be a resource for vac rentals. And yes just go through these forums, make keyword alerts like "STRP" or "AirBnb", "Vacation Rentals" or whatever else you can think of to catch all of the new threads. Load up on free real estate podcasts too.

I keep getting targeted ads for it on facebook. It looks like a typical guru course. You don't need to pay $4800 to learn how to run an Airbnb, it's not a difficult thing to do, it's basic communication and logistics. You're better off learning for free from all of the information in these forums, and then getting a well connected investor-centric agent in the market that you choose to buy in. Take that $4800 and put it into a down payment.

@Avery Carl Appreciate your feedback! I am currently going over all the threads and will be reaching out to referred individuals on this post. I can already feel the support available through BP as I am going through the beginning phases. Appreciate everyone for prompt responses!!

@Avery Carl
@J@John Underwood
Sounds like you two are a good source. I have put in an offer in my first on a STR at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. I am needing some assistance on expected cash flow and maybe some advice on what to look out for and make sure I structured the deal right with partner.
Haven't heard of them. If what you need is being surrounded by people who are doing successful short term rentals,
I'd start by joining various short-term rental communities first. They are most active on Facebook groups. Type "Airbnb host" and you will see a bunch.
In short-term rental, Airbnb has the biggest share, that's why I recommend joining such groups.
Hey @Javen Harris, my fiance and I signed up and have been really, really happy with the course. It doesn't just teach you how to buy and rent a vacation rental. It teaches how to make it among the top 25% of properties in a given area and includes a ton of social support, networking with top 1% realtors and lenders, very niche CPA's and lawyers, and a ton of extra content about building the brand, how to be featured on travel blogs, ramp up your facebook advertising, etc. There's just so much support and content. Could you find it all on BP and DIY? Possibly, yes. Did it save us at least $5K worth of mistakes and missed income on the table? Definitely. We wholeheartedly recommend it and aren't getting anything out of saying that. Here's the link to our property so you can see the quality (please don't misconstrue this as advertising as I'm only sharing to show course results in our case). We definitely could not have done this without the course and support that came with it. I'd be happy to introduce you to other people in the program if you'd like. I'm sure they'd all say the same thing. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4...
It's funny, I typed this before I read all the way through to the last post, but that didn't change the questions...
I want to play devil's advocate here but am happy to hear arguments to the contrary as I’m learning.
I’m assuming the $4800 is an accurate figure for the program. So… Many have paid substantially more for college… Many have paid substantially more for trade school… both are vehicles to get an education to help land a job and make money. And yes there are many gurus out there who only make money for themselves...
And yes, purchasing short-term rentals doesn’t require any special licensure, so you could certainly learn “on the street“…But will you? And if you go that route, how long will it take you to acquire your first property? Yes, some will do it quickly but others will take years and others will never quite get around to it….Myself, I have a job that requires a lot of my time (which I paid substantially more for by the way) so how do I go about finding time for this education? What I’m saying basically is if it’s a legitimate program that will help walk you through purchasing & marketing properties and save time and steps (both of which are money), it might well be worth it… But the big “IF“ is... do they? To me, that’s the big question. I’d happily pay $4800 and purchase my first property in a few weeks to months rather than a few years, and do it without making rookie mistakes that also cost me money… that makes it’s worth it. But if it’s $4800 for some educational materials and no support, then definitely not worth it. Short-term rentals are something I’m interested in and looking into right now… If this expedites the process, it may well be worth it. I think we need to hear from someone who’s gone through the program… I see one purported example from about a month ago... Are they now the proud owner of short-term rentals that they wouldn’t have acquired without the university’s help? Or were they left high and dry once the check cleared???
I have a lot more due diligence to do before I'd even consider jumping in... but I haven't heard anything that makes it sound like BS either. Thoughts???

@Jourdan Amerson
Was $4,800 what you paid for the training and mentorship? If they help you find a property, how much do they charge for that? Is there anything above the course fee? A percentage? What else can you tell me? Could you put me in touch with others who have gone through the program?

Hey @Bob Foglia, I hear what you are saying, but frankly, this forum is all you really need to make an informed decision. The information shared on here is real life folks running real life vacation rentals.
Once you add in all the other forums on this site relating financing etc, this place is all you really need.
I spent a lot of time here before I bought our vacation rental. I bought in an area that worked for us and that I knew. After 4 years we are going like gangbusters and I wouldn't change a thing.
Many people get analysis paralysis. They continue to plan and read and calculate but never jump in. Some folks just will never go for it and that is fine. No class will help with that.
If people want to spend $4800 on a class, then go for it. I am just saying that all you really need is this place. Everything is here.

Hey everyone. Lots of great comments & questions here. @Jourdan Amerson, thanks for sharing your experience. I am Shawn Moore, founder of Vodyssey (formerly Lifestyle Asset University). I thought I would jump on and add my two cents to this thread.
We do help people build portfolios of profitable short term vacation rentals by focusing on the 3 major phases of ownership: Acquisition, Management & Marketing. To many of your points on this thread, what we teach is not rocket science and you can definitely figure this out on your own. There are so many people doing an amazing job and BP is a great resource of information.
Tony Robbins says that people hire him to compress decades into days and to avoid some of the mistakes he has learned along the way. While I do not claim to be anywhere near as talented as Tony Robbins, we have similar goals of helping people avoid the learning curve that comes with anything new. We have many years of experience in this area and we have helped many people get into this game that would not have otherwise had the time to move forward.
@Bob Foglia I think you're smart for playing devil's advocate while keeping an open mind about the program. Feel free to find me on other social media sites (since we can’t share contact information here) and I can connect you with others in the group. Shawn Moore just replied so you can speak directly with him now too. I like to think of the LAU/ Vodyssey group as a private group of specialized vacation rental investors who do it well. I've worked with other professionals I found from BP, but actively giving advice on this forum doesn't necessarily mean that the person is good at what they do unfortunately. I think if you like structure and live support, you'll benefit from the program. Hope to hear from you!
@Shawn Moore what is your experience and what makes you the person to get the job done?
@Bob Foglia you make excellent points. The key is aligning yourself with an effective program that accomplishes the objectives you outlined -- $4800 is more than worth it if it delivers.
We just learned about Vodessey and LAU. Scheduled a call and spoke with a team member (not Shawn) and the price quoted to us today was $6,800. If we respond in 48 hours, we’ll receive a $1,000 discount. That seems like quite a price increase since $4,800 was mentioned a few months ago on this thread. We have friends who have successfully launched and cash flowed 3 STRs in the past two years on their own. So I also wonder if LAU is worth the investment of $6K. Does benefit supersede cost with so much info and support readily available for free or a nominal fee (like airdna.co) especially for those of us who are eager, thorough and research oriented?
