I read to open the LLC in Florida, but when I do, the address state for the registered agent (me) defaults to Florida and can't be changed. Is there a way to change the state? Can I use the rental address as the registered agent address even though I don't live there?

@Chris M., I am not familiar specifically with those states but I suspect I know what your issue is.
If you create a domestic LLC which is one created within a given state, then it must have a place of business in that state as it is a local yokel business native to that state. So, that is why they require a place of business (address) within the state.
Some people will use someone within the state as the address of their business. I might be their local lawyer's office or even the address of their own rental property.
You could also create the LLC in your home state and use your primary residence and then register that LLC created in GA as a foreign LLC (foreign meaning from outside the state) in FL. So, that way Florida has your LLC registered even though it was created in another state.
Check with a lawyer to get guidance, but these are the sorts of options/issues I suspect they would discuss with you.
