Insurance cancelation on second home

Posted Jan 10 2023, 19:31

Hello! My first post! I am doing a remodel on a second home that is paid off. Insurance however, informed me that they are cancelling the insurance because of exterior paint peeling and some damage to the bottom of the walls from water. The water issue is fixed but they informed me during the winter when it’s not ideal to paint.

Any advice  on what to tell them/ask them or should carriers be switched?
I do have a painter scheduled but again it barely gets over 50 in the winter months and he strongly advised me to wait.

Thank you!

Christopher,

You need to have your Agent contact the company and request an extension.  Let them know that the water issue is fixed and that the paint repair is scheduled (offer to get them email confirmation from the painter if needed).  I had a similar type of issue for one of my clients.  The company wanted the driveway repaired and issued notice that it had to be done to avoid cancellation.  Unfortunately this happened during the winter and Asphalt contractors do not work then.  The company rescinded the cancellation and gave them additional time until the spring.
