Hello Everyone!
In today's newsletter Brandon put it out there that maybe we should set up a local BiggerPockets Real Estate Meetup and I thought that, that was a FABULOUS idea!
I have looked into REIA meeting times and most of the time I cannot make them, because I work full time, so this would be a great alternative.
Please let me know asap if you would be interested and what days and times work best for you and then I will figure out the when and where.

I agree -- this was an awesome meetup! I really enjoyed meeting everyone there, and liked the introductions by everyone and what real estate investing they have done and where they plan to go. I also learned that Scooby Doo is a favorite of more than one person in the group!

@Arthur Banks & @Dawn Anastasi a BIG thank you for coming!! Sorry the venue was a little loud, but next time we will find something more suitable. I am glad everyone had a good time! I know I did and I learned a lot...VERY motivated to get investing.

I had a good time and definitely interested in talking more with some of the people from the other side of the table next time! There was a very good turnout--probably more than anticipated which made it more difficult to converse with everyone.
I definitely see the usefulness of pictures on the forums. It was great knowing who most everyone was right away.

@Uwe K. Everyone left around 9 or 10. No meeting minutes.....it was just more or less a meet & greet. We introduced ourselves & our goals. We discussed when we would meet next. Everyone asked each other questions. The next one will probably be more focused....

@Steve Foth I know, I'm sorry. It was just difficult to find a great space for all of us. We are looking into better venues that are still a convenient location for everyone and conducive for better interaction. But I am glad you were able to make it and it was so nice to talk to you and your wife! I enjoyed the whole evening!! I'm very motivated. Everyone at the meeting inspired me to keep moving forward.

So I was just having a conversation about the meaning behind bi-weekly, and we started looking up the definition appears the phrase bi-monthly is a little ambiguous. There have been a couple votes for bi-monthly meet ups but I thought we should clarify what that means. Every other month, or every other week?

@Dave Carpenter if I said bi-weekly, I'm sorry, I meant bi-monthly...meaning every other month.
So with that being said...our next meet up will be in October. I have spoken with Mehran, because I know he was coming into town this month & the time he will be in town, I will be out. So he said he will meet up with everyone some other time.
Then as far as the meeting schedule will go, again everyone suggested bi-monthly meaning every other month. However I feel that meeting in December might be difficult for many. So we would skip December and meet in January and have a fresh start in the new year.
So as the schedule stands now we would meet in:
October, then January of 2014(if you can believe that). Unless people would like more. I know for myself it would be difficult. Also I know milwaukee REIA is pretty active with breakfasts, lunches, guest speakers and such. They meet every month.
This is my thought...at this time the local BP meetup is pretty organic. I want to make it the BEST for OUR time. So when people come they get the information they want, network with the right people and leave knowing something new. Which means I will need others input on how and what they want this to be. I am open to ideas and suggestions.
I know the biggest thing we need to work on is a place to meet that is convenient for everyone and isn't too loud and crazy:)
So I hope this helps and clarifies things. If people would like to meet more than that, we can discuss that more.

Every 2 months is great with me!
As far as location, one idea would be to find a coffee shop that has a "community room" you can reserve. The Caribou Coffee in Wauwatosa has a meeting room that might work for us. The biggest challenge is the room only holds 18 people, and I think we are pretty close to that! Worst case though, we could break a group out that could sit elsewhere in the coffee shop.
@Nicole Pettis , I would be happy to work with you to coordinate this.

@Dave Carpenter that will work for me & I'm sure everyone else will like it. So yes that is fine..then we need to confirm if everyone is okay with the last thursday of the month. Or the third thursday or the first...I think many are open, but I know others have obligations.

Happy Tuesday Pocketiers! Its that time for our meet up this month! So I need input on a few questions...
I really would like to set up a set schedule for our meet ups so everyone can pre-plan for them. Overall, we have establish that the Milwaukee meet up will meet every other month. However what we haven't established is the day. Thursday's seem to be the best day everyone can meet. So do we:
• Want to meet on the third or fourth Thursday of said months
• I am not sure where everyone lives(except for Arthur and Steve) so what is more convenient...Wauwatosa or Downtown? Or any other place, I'm open to suggestions.
• For our next meet up we will be discussing "how to finance your properties" or fund your properties. Or where the heck do I get money to do this Real Estate Investing thing! So we would like people to share their stories on how they acquired their properties, what are the pro's and cons and what exit strategy they are using.
As always if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

@Steve Foth & @Arthur Banks I was asked if we could do Saturday mornings, however I know you two are around an hour away. Would Saturday mornings or Thursday evenings be easier for you?

I'm good with Thursday nights, or Saturday mornings. I vote for Wauwatosa, but no big deal either way. Excited for another meet up, and to talk a bit about financing!

Even though I'm closer to downtown, I would vote for Tosa Nicole - places there are going to be a bit easier parking-wise, and Tosa is very centrally located.
