New to Going Out on My Own – Looking to Connect with Investors & Agents

Hey everyone,

I’ve been in and around the real estate space for a while, working behind the scenes with funding and deal support—but I’m now stepping out on my own and looking to build relationships the right way.

I currently work closely with private lenders, helping structure funding for both residential and commercial deals. Over the years, I’ve seen how often good deals fall apart—not because the deal is bad, but because the financing isn’t lined up or structured properly.

My goal here isn’t to pitch—it’s to connect.

I’d love to network with:

  • Investors actively doing deals (fix & flips, rentals, multi-family, etc.)
  • Agents working with investor clients
  • Anyone who’s ever had a deal stall because of funding

If you’re working on something and want a second set of eyes on the numbers or just want to have a funding conversation, I’m happy to be a resource.

I’m based in the DMV (Washington, D.C. / Maryland / Virginia), but open to connecting with people in other markets as well.

Looking forward to learning from the community and building some solid relationships.

— Melvin

Hey Melvin, welcome. A lot of deals really do come down to the financing side more than people realize, especially when timelines get tight or projects get more complex than expected.

I’m active in long-term rentals and open to connecting with other investors.

    Welcome, Melvin!

It sounds like you bring a lot of useful experience from the funding side of real estate. I’m Diana Khan, a Maryland real estate attorney, broker, and investor, and it’s always great to connect with people working across the DMV market.

Hi @Melvin Crawford! just a quick note. We created another BiggerPockets account because we did not realize this original account was still active. That newer account has now been closed, and I’ll be using this account moving forward. I’m still happy to connect with you here.
