Investor Moving to Raleigh | Actively Buying Small Multifamily

Hey everyone,

My name is Jack. I’m 21 years old and will be relocating to the Raleigh NC area around the holidays for a full-time sales engineering role.

I’m already investing in North Carolina and recently closed on a triplex in Lillington that I’m actively managing. I currently own 4 units and am focused on scaling my portfolio throughout North Carolina.

My focus is on small multifamily deals (2–24 units) with a value-add component. I’m targeting properties where I can improve operations, increase rents, and create long-term value through better management and execution.

I’m looking to connect with other investors in the Raleigh area and within a few hours of it who are actively doing deals. Specifically interested in:

  • - Investors who are consistently buying or repositioning properties

  • - People with strong broker relationships and deal flow

  • - Operators who understand how to execute on value-add strategies

I’m looking to build relationships with people who are serious about growing and doing deals in this market. Open to connecting, sharing insights, and exploring opportunities to work together when there’s a good fit.

If you’re active in the area, I’d like to connect. Feel free to reach out.

Jack

Sounds like you’ve got a great start with your Lillington triplex! If you’re open to looking out-of-state as well, a lot of investors are pivoting to Midwest markets where you can snag 2–24 unit small multis well below replacement cost, cash flow from day one, and still execute value-add strategies without the crazy competition. The key is having a strong local team—property managers, contractors, and lenders—so you can scale remotely just as efficiently.

    Hey Jack!

It's interesting to see that you're already investing in North Carolina and focusing on value-add multifamily properties.

I'm building a property intelligence company called GroundVerity, currently focused on Johnston County. We organize and cross-reference public property records to help investors with preliminary property research and screening.

Since you're looking to expand your portfolio around Raleigh, I was curious whether Johnston County is an area you're considering and what information you find most difficult to verify when evaluating potential acquisitions.
