Started a food business from a single market stall in 2017, grew it over 7 years, and successfully exited in late 2025.During that journey, I taught myself to code and fell deep into AI and automation.

Another thing would be it backs to two other homes (plus the two on the side), so guests hear their music, smell the food and smoke and kids playing..not horrible, just not ideal.

With a house hack you can later decide if the experience is a stepping stone for you to move up the food chain and acquire more properties or eventually sell and just buy a single family to live in.

If you self-manage, what’s your process?    

Co-host calls & they say house is dirty, smells & rotten food in fridge.

Did your tax person meet with you outside of just the tax return filing process or suggest it?

If it was clear they had completely vacated...no clothes in the closet, no toothbrushes in the med cabinet, no, or clearly rotten food in the refer, no working electonics or useable furniture, after taking pics, I would change all the locks, secure the unit, and post a notice with your contact info in case the lawful Tenant returns and wants access.Then proceed based on your Attorney's recommendation for the locale.

Still it's food for thought.
