We could forgo adding a half bath, keep that as an extra if things come under budget.The siding is cedar or wood shingles on the top half of the house, so our choice would be to replace individual ones and paint them, or redo with new siding.

Rob look at how many layers of shingles are on the roof.If more than one you already will need to scrape and re-shingle rather than just going over with another set of shingles.

Now I have a storage building that I keep extra washers, dryers (gas & elec), hot water tanks (gas & elec), stoves (gas & elec), refrigerators, lumber, shingles, etc. and 3 trailers to haul all that stuff around.

Shingle manufacturers change their colors every 5-8yrs, so you should be able to find the same matching shingle and blend it into the existing.

Just an update though - during home inspection we found settlement cracks located above garage door, several cupped shingles on the roof and some soil eroding near side grading.

When you compare costs for a used 16x80 and add in the cost of locating it, moving it, rehabbing it, the used home often ends up costing more than a new one assuming you are looking for a late model vinyl and shingle home.The types of deals that existed in the early 2000s were a one-time phenomena that may not happen again anytime soon.
