Their only wrongdoing is that they pushed your file to the back of the queue since you had time on your escrow, that could have been used to track this down weeks ago.

It'll eat into your cashflow, but at least it'll only be for hopefully a few months till you build up reserves.Finally if something does go wrong, do you have friends, family who could bail you out for a couple of months?

Is this simply something that exists in case of wrong doing in which after the fact, say fraud occurs, a case can be made that person a or b was not sufficiently competent in the matter before investing?

Nothing can go wrong doing this.

There are lots of ways that partnerships can go wrong.
