Definitely get completely optimized on the first couple OTAs and maybe a channel mgr before investing a lot in software. 

I think our way of self managing is the optimized way where our place stayed booked, our reviews are extremely positive and we are fairly handsoff and we can leave town no problem. 

Binding your living arrangement with your investments is tough and you most likely won't be able to optimize both
