I would also setup each unit as a customer then the customer (person renting it) as sub-customer of the unit.

My thought there is if they are trying to earn my business during a trial period but don't respond to very basic usage questions, what kind of customer service will I receive as a subscriber. 

They are not your customers they are your employees !

They have an 8 hr, or less, containment class that will teach you what you need to know.
