The vast majority of apartments in the region do not fall under this.2) Does not apply to Section 8 units (HUD policies trump anything city hall does)3) Does not apply to owners with less than 25 units in the city (small landlords do not need to worry about this) So if you are one of the small number of owners to whom this law does apply (like myself), as a landlord, if you accept only 1/2 month of rent for the security deposit, you do not have to offer an option for renters insurance.

Some have the agency secure housing for them, but the vast majority of the time it’s the nurse finding the housing because they get to pick their housing and can control the cost a bit more

There is protection from some of the things they tout, but I believe it is not necessary for the vast majority of investors.If you look at the truly big movers and shakers on this site, Brian Burke, the DeRosa group, etc. you will find none of them use this kind of a structure.
