I suspect the reason you're being dropped is because of how the policy was written originally with regards to the two dwellings or they general issue with two dwellings on the same parcel.It's all about the reasoning for the cancellation and the communication up front about the actual property characteristics.One way or another if the properties are in good condition you should be able to get coverage.
