In official terms savers are down 3%-ish this year (and nearly 25% in the past 5 years) to inflation (but we all know the numbers are inaccurate at best) and that weakness is being compounded by a slide of nearly 1/10th in the dollars strength against other currencies in the past 12 months..This is not to mention the historical run of precious metals ie: 'money' silver and gold..as of this week silver is up to nearly $80/oz and approaching 200% on the year.
