I wish I would have thought about it when I was younger as just a few years ago my grandparents sold all of their rental properties and if I was smart I would have tried to purchase them from them some how.

Interestingly growing up my family mostly vacationed in Puerto Rico as my grand parents were living at the their home in Vieques for a majority of the year, in my young childhood they owned a hotel in Lincoln, NH one of the most popular mountain destinations in New England.

I grew up learning maintenance on properties my parents and grandparents had in Akron, then started buying my own after college.  35 years later, been full time for the last five years or so.  

Most times it is a couple (grandparents) and the like.
