I get emails saying I have new notifications but when I login I don’t have any unread notifications even though there are new mentions/votes since the last time I logged in. .I’ve been hoping it’s just a temporary thing while they try to fix it.

It's difficult to navigate from your notifications back to the forums or simply trying to get back to the forum feed after you are done commenting on someone's post. 

Houfy.com, you will receive a notification of the request to book, but you have to accept or decline the reservation prior to your calendar being blocked or  the guests credit card payment going through.
