Great link showing an animation of changes to unemployment rate by county over time. Looks like the Plains states are the only ones staying out of the "black rate" (>=10% unemployment).
Isn't it ironic that some of the best deals in the foreclosure market are also in counties where unemployment is the highest.
That might make it difficult to collect rent from one's tenants if they have lost their income.

I guess it all depends on where you are and who you rent to. I wouldn't think that student rentals whould change much.
Recent grads are also having a harder and harder time finding employement, many of whom are piecing together part time, seasonal, and temporary work. Those situations should lead to renting instead of buying.
Thanks for posting that link. Very sobering visual perspective of what we're all in the middle of.
Scary stuff...I saw that once before from a feed on LinkedIn. Hopefully things will turn back to the others colors with things improving now.

Great link, The increasing unemployment is really hitting the majority of the country now. I wonder what this animation would look like if the full unemployment was displayed.
How do we get the link to come up. I try to copy it and get a choice of Clip or couple other choices. Rich
Great find. Really puts everything into perspective.
It seems like they are doing a pretty good job of updating the map. I think it stopped at May of this year when I looked at it today and it is still pretty ugly! Hopefully it will start to shape up in the next year or so.

Curious is anyone else looked at this map and was thinking it looked like one of those maps Hollywood does for a zombie invasion or an epidemic?
Look at it again and compare to the movies. Apparently the same geographic areas where epidemics and zombie invasions start are where unemployment infects as well.
Wonder if the zombie attacks are causing people to flee their jobs? I thought many of the zombies were located in Washington DC.
