Is anyone familiar with this course? Can anyone recommend?

Thanks, Curt. Have you put these teachings to work and raised money? Or is this a new arrow in the quiver which you haven't pulled out yet?

I hate to be the voice of dissent - but the course is VERY basic. It says, hit up your current network - friends, family, etc. Also mentions trying to explain the benefits of self-directed IRS, because thats where a lot of potential prospects could move their money from a traditional 401k/ira into, so they could invest with you. I guess its an ok course if you have no clue. I also have his advanced course - which gets into presentations - however, there are SEC compliance regulations regarding the marketing and presenting of investment opportunities. So the best game plan is to do sit-downs in 1-on1 or small groups. I got the course so I could utiilize his presentation, I have since acquired other power points that are just as good for less or no money.
To be fair - I bought his first course at a Larry Goins Investorpalooza - It came with an offer for help via e-mail - he wasn't much help, so I wasn't happy with him, and subsequently left a bad taste in my mouth. Plus in his presentation he wasn't very forthcoming about the HUGE SEC exposure of marketing to new prospects. I think that was misleading by NOT sharing that information. I felt that he did not follow through with his commitment. So instead of paying full price for the Advanced Course - I bought it on Ebay.

you make a good point about the SEC. Can you direct me where to look to find out the specifics of SEC Guidelines, I want to focus on raising funds for deals in California by private lenders in CA.

Two that come to mind are Patrick Riddle's Private Money Blueprint and Mike Lautensack's Private Lending Secrets. (You can find both by a quick google search.) You can actually download Patrick Riddle's powerpoint presentation and script (free) at his website.

I dont have this course, but I know it sells on eBay for VERY cheap.

Before taking the advice of anyone, make sure you complete your due diligence on them. Taking advice from people who don't actively practice what they preach and or have negative items against them, should be a red flag to stay away.

This is not to denigrate Alan's course [it was an, interesting, read... ] but it was constructed pre-2008, before the SEC and many state regulators started becoming more viligant at monitoring the increasing number of real estate investors issuing securities [if you are raising capital from investors to invest in real estate....]

Whichever course you elect to use, or not, or self-educate, seeking out an active attorney current on your state's and federal SEC law is ESSENTIAL, before you mail out any post cards inviting folks to luncheons or otherwise ADVERTISE for investors [as Alan's course advocated when I perused it].

The red flag to state regulators is when ads appear, if the advertiser has not complied with the proper state registrations prior to soliciting investors through advertising, you've just created a HUGE target for yourself in most states.....

On the other hand, a good attorney practicing in your state's PPM or private offering realm can protect you, and review your offering to investors....and save you some stiff penalties
[you've probably heard of the one old school very successful investor, sort of the grand daddy in the private investors area, was actually shut down, for a comparatively MINOR failure to maintain proper paperwork, i.e. whether funds would be returned to investors after each project, or rolled over to the next project..., simple paperwork, had it been drafted correctly, and then proper records maintained]
