Best Cell Phone for RE Investors?

Best Cell Phone for RE Investors?

At our company right now there is a debate over which is the best cell phone for our company to get.

There are votes for the Droid, iPhone, and BlackBerry Bold. Most of us have BB Curves right now and a big knock is that the multimedia is lacking as well as web surfing.

Anyone have any great recommendations?

Verizon Droid!

I get reception everywhere, and rarely lose my 3G coverage. The internet is quick, and the phone can run multiple apps.

There are several real estate related apps that are helpful to the business, and the phone connects directly with facebook and google to help you manage your contacts.

The slide out keyboard is large enough to manage (I can't stand the tiny blackberry keyboards), and I find it easier to use than the on-screen keyboard of the iPhone. It does have voice recognition, and a touch screen keyboard though if you don't want the slide-out. The voice recognition works for spanish and english.

Plus, the Droid X (which I don't have), allows 5 other devices to use the phone's internet.

Good choice. I Have the older droid phone with t-mobile. Its the best phone I've ever owned.

I use this phone as well and I love it. They also just sent out an update to call over wifi now. The only bad thing is that I still get a lot of dropped calls. I'm getting a new sim card and hopefully that will fix it. The keyboard does take some getting used after using a blackberry for 5 years.

Well after months of agonizing, I finally picked up the T-Mobile G2 android based phone.

I could not be more thrilled! I was the biggest BlackBerry advocate of all time, but after an hour with this phone you cannot compare the two. Anything you can think of you can do with an Android phone. It is a completely new and refreshing cell phone experience on all accounts.

The G2 does have a slide out keyboard which is helpful but it does take some getting used to.

Overall I would highly recommend it to the BP community!

What kind of battery life do you get with this phone - does it last for the course of your business day?

Justin mentioned earlier that he only gets about 8 hours of use. I find that number to be if I'm lucky. My Droid burns through battery after maybe 3 hours of phone usage. I get 6-8 hours of battery for data and web surfing.

I highly recommend the phone, but a car charger, home charger, and USB charger are necessities.

I have been considering a change as well. In my area though I have had little success with anything but T-Mobile.

I've used three android phones, (Behold II, Vibrant, and G2).

The Behold II and Vibrant battery life is absolutely horrible. I could not get through a day with the phone with the data usage and talk time I do. The G2 on the other hand is way better. I can easily get through the day. I would get 8 hours at best with the Vibrant. The G2 I charge before going to bed, so it lasts me from 6 AM until 10-11 at night. Turning off Wifi on the phones helps when not in use, but the G2 will still last all day if I forget to turn it off. I think the wifi goes to "sleep" after a while where on the Vibrant its continually looking for it. I do carry a car charger just in case. Also, G2 runs stock android which is a bonus.

I don't use GPS on my phone, but I'm sure that will kill the battery rather quickly.

I would recommend the G2 if you are thinking of getting an andriod phone. If its by far the longest lasting battery life for a non blackberry phone.

This thread is several months old (years in smartphone time), and I'd be interested if any of the posters has changed their opinion of their phone they selected, has latched on to a new phone, or if any one else would like to comment on the smartphone they currently use in their RE business and what they like about it.

Also interested in who might be effectively using an iPad or other tablet technology in combination with a generic phone.

I use The HTC Android G2 From T-mobile. The Tmo service is not the greatest. However the phone is spectacular. The web surfing is the most supperior part when compared to the Blackberry
