Securing your first property details/tips

Planning on investing in real estate after so many years into a police department in the NC triangle area. I plan to obtain an investment property in the Johnston county area while in a police department then utilizing some time in the National guard to gain my entitlement to a VA loan then use travel nurses, soldiers, doctors, and local tenants to rent out to. I do understand that to re-use a VA loan you have to pay the funding fee then essentially pay back the remaining number to gain your VA loan back for the next property. If there are any other strategies or people in departments that have tips for me I am open to learn them I have done extensive research before to get to this point.

Thank you in advance

Thank you so much for serving our great state, brother! You are correct that you have to free up your entitlement in order to use it on a different property. I'm not a full on expert in VA loans, but if at all possible look toward buying a multiplex up to four units. Anything beyond 4 units is considered commercial and would not qualify. Great way to get bang for your Va bucks.

Thank you and do you have a website portal that you utilize ? Definitely would like a catalog of 4 unit properties to sort through prior to my next career endeavors.

@Richard Pennington I don't have access to the MLS up there, but you can definitely get in touch with a broker out that way. If you need me to find someone over there who focuses on investors, let me know. But I'm sure if you do the search here on BiggerPockets, you'll find someone.
