Hi- Happy to be a part of the BP Nation. As a husband and father of two girls, my Wife (new realtor) and I are interested in building a financial nest through real estate investments. We're looking forward to learning from all of you!!! Looking forward for our 1st time home purchase - Our biggest question at this time "Should our first property be an investment property or should it be our own?" Thank you All..

I would buy a duplex, triplex or fourplex on a conventional or fha mortgage as my first property. You will get owner occupied mortgage terms and the tenants will pay your mortgage.

I've been looking for multi-family properties in my area and South Florida has very little out on the market. Does anyone know of any multifamily properties with a good school system in South Florida? Thank you all!!

Pedro Ramos how are you? I'm a real estate investor in the Miami area. I see that your location says Weston, FL. That area typically only has mansions/estates. If your drive further south more towards Little Havana, Shenandoah area there are many properties that would fit the description of what you're searching for.

Buy a nice home in a nice neighborhood. Raise your family in peace. Invest down the road. You really want your family right next door to the South Florida crazies you will attract to your marginal-neighborhood small multifamily?

    Pedro,

I live in Weston also and there are no multi unit apartments in this area. You can find good rental properties in Miramar.  I would buy a home in Weston first to have the peace of mind for your kids.  It was just named 8th best place to live in the U.S. in Money Magazine last week.  You can always work on your investments and their are great programs out there to build your portfolio.
