I really would like some examples of what makes up someone’s market. Struggling to define what “my market” is here in Seattle Wa, or more specifically Kent Wa just outside Seattle.

Hi Brandon, I would first define what you are trying to accomplish in the market. If you are looking for Multi-Family in Kent you might have to have a wider scope, pushing to Federal Way or Auburn to find a good deal. Whereas with SFH you can narrow it down to a specific neighborhood in Kent specifically. I hope this helps.

@Brandon Phillips A lot depends on what you're looking for as @Benjamin Bollman mentioned. Say, for instance you decide to buy residential multi's. If they are few and far between in your defined market then you need to look at another market.

@Brandon Phillips Hi Brandon, Kent runs the gambit from Class A properties all the way to F... key, as others mentioned, is defining your target. A SFR in East Hill is very different from small multifamily in West Hill.

@Brandon Phillips This is where I would suggest that you sit down with a few local RE brokers and describe to them what you are looking for...let me describe the "market" for you. Just make sure each of them know that you are not doing exclusive representation...which most should be fine with.
