How do I start Real Estate?

Question

I have no experience in Real Estate but my dads friend is in it, but I don’t know what to ask him or where to start, I have good credit and I think I’d like to get myself into (rent to rent properties)

Any advise?

Ive been on reading books and listening to the bigger pockets and other podcasts for over a year now and just got an accepted offer on my first 4plex with an FHA loan. I have read more books the past year then I did my entire childhood-college career! haha. Your in a great place to start, I would just study and learn all you can and don't take on any consumer debt if you can.

I agree with @Logan Graham here. Educating yourself is very important, so that you have the lingo and the concepts down. Also, be sure to decide what you want to invest in (single family, multifamily, etc.). Once you understand more and have an idea of where you want to go, you can start reaching out to others. Tell your dad's friend that you're interested in real estate, and educate a lot in the meantime.

Starting out can seem pretty daunting (I was just there a year ago). However, the best thing you can do is start learning from blogs and books or anything real estate (The Bigger Pockets podcast is pretty good). I read and listened to everything I could get my hands on for a few months. After that I had a better idea of what questions to ask. So really the best advice I would give is to start learning as much as you can online then you will be able to actually have a conversation about real estate with someone.
