I'm a faithful listener of the BP real estate podcast. Can't get enough of it. Other than the super valuable advice and insights I gain from the show, I also learn about a ton of great books from the guests. What books are you reading? What are your favorites? I'm looking for more knowledge!

Hey Franky,

Love your post, honestly I never like reading, because English was not my first language. I struggle in school and basically gave up on the fact that reading was for me (crazy right!).... But one day I discover Rich Dad Poor Dad and well the rest is history. Today I make a priority to read one hour a day, I also try to read one or two books a month (I know slow but steady).

I also had the same question, what book should I read first or what book should I get into, because there is so much info out there. Soo while I was lessening to BP Podcast I heard @Brandon Turner talked about his book list https://www.biggerpockets.com/...

and so I started to read that list and it has helped me out tremendously on focusing my efforts. The goal is to find what you want to do and become a master on that specific subject, for example, I'm an active duty Marine and I'm currently station in Japan so the books that I'm reading now are Long-Distance Real Estate Investing and the BRRRR by @David Greene this book are in line with my particular situation and fit my overall strategy. This is exactly what you need to find, so you can maximize your time and stay focus on your strategy.

The Bible KJV 1611 ;). There's a lot of lessons with regards to money and investing here and truly made accountable of what I have and should I do. with what I have. Just a thought.

Recent ones I read is the "BRRRR" and "Long Distance Investing" books of David Greene. I learned a lot! Thanks to him, I am not that afraid to look for properties in other areas now. I just wish I read that before I started our rehab.

I am always reading a book and it is hard to say what book has had the biggest impact on my life (besides scripture). Here is a list of the ones that come to mind that I loved reading and learned a great deal from. Here they are not in any order:

-How will you measure your Life by Clayton Christensen- This book is a must read! It really puts in perspective how you are living your day to day life and for you to make sure that aligns with your goals. Great book!
-Set for Life by Scott Trench- He lays out how to take control of your financial life in a very clear way. (This book also encouraged me to push myself to read more books than I already was)
-Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss
-The Simple Path to wealth By JL Collins
-Lifeonaire by Steve Cook and Shaun McCloskey
-Digital Minimalism By Cal Newport
These books have helped shape my thought process into becoming more of the person I want to be in the past year.

How NOT to Make Money in Real Estate (which I wrote) because it was the first time I made a conscious decision to share my experiences with new investors and that has brought me a lot of personal satisfaction and happiness. As far as books I’ve read I’ll throw one out there that a lot of people may not think of. Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins. It helped change a lot of my negative tendencies and helped me become a better investor and human being as well.

I hate these threads because it's always shallow self help and motivational mental masturbation. Irritates me that books of so little substance can create so much hype.

Great book on the statistical behaviors and habits of first generation millionaires.

Proverbs 13:22, that's the one that keeps me grinding it out when I have a bad day and just want to retire. I'm interested in providing for my children's children.

Here are three that changed my life in addition to many already listed.
1. The One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey - Ken Blanchard. Given to me when I was a 2ndLt and desparately in need of some management skills.
2. 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership - John Maxwell. Found this as a Major and needing some leadership guidance. Now I give this book to anyone I mentor.
3. Secrets From The Mountain - Pat Williams - not a blockbuster book or author but has many concepts I can really relate to as a guy who would rather be on backcountry trip than sitting in my house.

@Franky Aikens surprised how many people mentioned Rich Dad Poor Dad but didn’t bring up the Cash Flow Quadrant, Kiyosaki’s follow-on book.

RDPD is great for mindset but the “meat and potatoes” is all in Cash Flow Quadrant, and that book truly changed my life.

I’ve given out dozens of hard copies to friends and am a believer in its methodology.

Cal Newport’s Digital Minimalism is actually the next book I have in the queue to read. I recently read two books of his, Deep Work and So Good That They Can’t Ignore You. Both were fantastic reads. I first heard of Cal on the BP podcast #330 which was a fascinating interview!
