Quickly Figuring out if Foundation is Pier & Beam or Slab?

Question

Is there a way to quickly figure out if a foundation is pier and beam or slab? The tax rolls in my county do not list it.

If it has a crawl space it's pier and beam, if it doesn't then it's on a slab.

If the ad mentions "basement", it's not slab on grade!

If looking at a picture of the outside, vents somewhere between the bottom of the house and the dirt will indicate a crawl space as mentioned by Matt.

You should easily be able to tell by looking at pictures of the property. With a pier and beam foundation the house is built on a series of piers where the base/floor of the house isn't touching the ground. You should be able to see if there is a crawl space underneath the house by looking at the pics. Its more common in older homes.
