What is the point of "following" someone?

Im still trying to wrap my head around what the benefits are when you follow someone? I dont get notified if they post anything, its not like im able to easily see what they are up to in the forums. You have to view someones profile to see what they are posting and you can do that without even following.

So what is the purpose of following anyone?

How do you follow someone? Do you view someone's profile and it's there (somehow)?

You'll see the forum posts and blog posts of anyone you follow in your dashboard feed.

Scott I put you on here because I know you work here and Ive seen you respond to questions like this. Plus I dont know who else to ask? Ive even had more then one biggerpocket members personally PM me to see if i ever got the answer to this original question so I figured it would be beneficial to the world to get it answered.

I've wondered the samet thing and never asked, followed a couple people then quit.

To be honest Joel I am confused by this aspect as well. I have also noticed that the people I follow, I never get notices about their posts. However, this insight of yours makes me want to follow you.
