I was just reading the "sign-up" page for Biggerpockets for new members and while creating an account, the last item has a "Prove your human" where you must read the question and answer it.
The question was "How many minutes in an hour"
This got me thinking. What if the person did not know the answer?
As such, I think Josh should change the instructions to read as follows:
"Prove your human and/or not an idiot."
We neeed neither on this board! :mrgreen:

I would like to see that, but unfortunately, there are some federal election laws that prevent voters from having to pass a test to qualify to vote, I think that was attempted in the 40s/50s in Mississippi.
You got me thinking as well. Maybe we should place similar questions on election ballots. :wink:

Hopefully the BP one is easy to use. These things have become increasingly hard to decipher even if you are human. Caps and lower case, funny letters, etc. make them increasingly hard to figure out. Some of the more sophisticated ones make me try 3-4 times to get it right....very annoying!

Sometimes it's hard to tell what letters they are too. Like ri could be a n or 2 n's could be an m.

I just hate when they use "l", "i", and "1" or "O" and "0" in those captchas. Like I can really tell what to type since they all look the same when they're twisted and distorted ala Edvard Munch.

Stan - not sure who you're talking about . . . every morning we go through and banish all the spammers/dirtbags, though we do it throughout the day as well. There has been someone posting crap on the forums about polo clothing for the past 2 days. They usually get tired of wasting their time and disappear when they realize that their spam won't stay here. If that is what you're talking about, when we kick them off, their posts go with them.
As we get more popular, we do tend to attract more of these people; we're actually deleting well over 20 newly created accounts every day now.
As for this thread . . .
Will - If someone doesn't know how many minutes there are in an hour, they probably shouldn't be on this site. :mrgreen:
Our captcha doesn't require you to decipher a bunch of letters and numbers that are scrunched together impossibly, it just requires you to have a basic elementary education. Once in a while it'll act up, but it is definitely better, IMO, than those tough to read ones.
Oh, and for Will's sake, I corrected the spelling in his title. :)

It is even harder when you are trying to only use one eye and get the damn screen to quit moving around after tossing back a few too many sodas :beer:
