WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL for THIS YEAR ???

I will start.

1. Thankful for BP support at BPCON for our Charity aheroshome.org with their participation we hit our goal and have raised 180k from BP members for our project to give a home away to a deserving first responder.

2. Thankful we made it through Covid and my wife has made it through her long haul  was scary.

3. Thankful for my kids and 9 Grandkids latest one born in June !!

4. Thankful for all my clients that have supported us over the years.

5. Thankful for all the Subs in the 10 plus states we work in for their hard work and loyalty.

6. Thankful for my Core bank to stick with me through thick and thin..

7. Thankful to be able to participate on BP its a great release from the everyday ups and downs of Real Estate.

    Great list Jay. I'll give it a go myself. I'm thankful for many things as well and will keep my list short.

    1. I am thankful for BP and how it has helped me network as an investor and agent

    2.  I am VERY thankful BiggerPockets canned that awful format change on the site from a few months ago lol

    WEll the format change agreed very thankful they kept this format and allow those who think a facebook style format is better to use that if they choose.. which it would be interesting to see if or how many folks actually switch to that and use it.

    Hats off to those that can use that new format. I am still in therapy trying to recover from the stress it caused me. I'd like to see a vote for how many people use that style daily.

    • 3. Wonderful family and friends
    • 4. Under contract on first personal home, will be live in flip/house hack
    • 5. Under contract on STR
    • 6. Being able to serve and be faithful to God and my church
    • 7. Bought a sports car 
    • 8. BP and being able to connect and learn from so many people
    • 9. Being able to hire my first employee
    • 10. So much more but 2021 has been wonderful :)

        Congrats all on all fronts..  building a real estate sales business can be quite rewarding for those that stick to it and work it. 

        Its something that you can do for life..  I know my wife and I are lifers  LOL..

        Thanks @Jay Hinrichs for including me on that buddy short list. It is a great time to sit back and be grateful and truly appreciate the blessing we have, and the the people in our lives that make it possible. I believe in the saying that real estate really is a team sport. I don’t know anybody who has done much significantly with real estate on their own. If it were not for the team around me there’s no way that I would’ve been able to get to where I’m at with real estate right now. So I would like to thank all of my subcontractors, our assistance, my business partners, and especially and foremost my wife for her patience and my God for his love, support, and strengthening during questionable times. Thanks also to the BP community and the knowledge I’ve gained from being a part of it. 

        Happy thanks giving everyone!

        I think that is what makes RE unique one gets to interact with all sorts of folks and team building is a huge part of scaling any operation.

        @Jay Hinrichs I am thankful for you and all the other great people here on BP that share their knowledge, friendship and engage in interesting conversation. I have read thousands of posts from you, yet still learn something new every week. 

        I am thankful for my W2 career, which is interesting and pays me well. I have an amazing manager that trusts me. 

        I am thankful for our rental property business, for our great tenants and for the amazing economic conditions we are enjoying right now. 

        Most of all, I am thankful for my wife and daughter. I am thankful my wife is recovering from a major surgery and we are able to spend the holidays together. I am thankful for my parents good health. I am thankful for all my friends and extended family.

        Its nice to see successful landlords that still enjoy and honor the profession or job that helped them create and sustain the ability to invest in real estate in the first place.   In many instances its the best of both worlds you get that stable income and usually benefits that self-employed landlords don't have. And you can build your RE portfolio without having the stress of trying to live on positive cash flow makes for a very nice live well sleep well scenario.

        Woof, woof, woof.

        I've had some ugly, perspective-changing experiences in my life. At the same time, the great gift of getting through those experiences is the rock-bottom certainty, never far away from the forefront of my mind, that I'm lucky to be alive and functional. Along with this is a certainty that I really don't deserve anything, as there are quite a few people who have gone through something of the same experiences, but circumstances were just different for them, and they didn't make it. So I'm grateful for this, that I'm alive and functional, instead of the more probable alternatives, all of which are, as @Steve Vaughan put it, statistics.

        In dealing with my tenants, one of the things that constantly gets rammed home to me is the contrast between their early family life growing up and mine, and what a very ugly childhood has done to them. I am deeply grateful for the hard, thankless work my parents put in. I wish they were alive so I could thank them now for it.

        I'm grateful to my teachers for the unusually strong research training that was imparted to me in high school and college. The value of having this kind of background as a researcher in real estate is incredibly important, and I reminded of this practically every day.

        I'm grateful to the other sort of teachers I've had, the ones who have taught me about money and real estate, and that the saying I used to live by as a grad student and a teacher, "The first rule of life is to have rich parents." is a lie. Some of them are here, some elsewhere, but I'm grateful to all of them.

        Grateful to the BP forums. This is a unique place and some really special people are here, sharing pearls of great price. I would say a lot more and single some of these people out, but I doubt they want to be singled out, which makes them even more remarkable.

        Grateful that I live in the USA, which is still the land of opportunity for people like me.

        And lastly, I am grateful that I had both the good sense and the rare luck to marry way, way up. If it wasn't for my wife, I'd still be living from paycheck to paycheck instead of figuring out how to buy local apartment buildings. Just driving around with her these days, looking at places, running the numbers, understanding that it is no longer a matter of HOW but a matter of WHEN, is a surreal experience.

        I thank all of you for all the good reading, laughs, ideas, advice etc.

        I am thankful for my amazing wife, my kids & step kids first off.

        My tenants that haven’t missed a payment thru this mess.

        My immune system for allowing me to continue to work in peoples homes, rentals, travel to Mexico, AC, NYC, numerous nightclubs etc and I’ve never gotten covid.

        And my amazing clients that Lee me busy with work week after week, year after year.

        I am thankful for:

        1. my 13 unit portfolio and my tenants 

        2. my dream of growing my portfolio to 100 units

        3. my free time

        4. autumn in Michigan

        5. the abundance in my fridge that I get to share with family during the holidays

        6. my dog pals and my chickens that deliver breakfast each morning (usually)

        7. my kids who are thriving 

        8. all the small things that make my life cozy and comfortable

        9. the BP community with a wealth of wisdom

        10. a little cash in the bank

        Considering that I work with hospice patients and see death almost daily, I'm grateful for just being above ground. Grateful for family and loved ones. Gratefull for good health and for all of the many blessings that God has provided.

        Thanks for the tag Jay. I'm thankful for your wisdom and the collective wisdom of BP plus the opportunities I have had from being on here... Also super thankful for just being alive and well. Unfortunately this perspective comes from losing a few close friends and family members this year, as well as two tenants to covid/addiction. Trying my best not to take this precious life for granted and keep mortality top of mind every day. Thankful for family, friends, parents, USA, my privileges, my mistakes, my mentors, my enemies, my teachers, heartbreaks, laughter, fresh air, mountains, rivers, the sun, indoor plumbing, heat, electricity, modern medicine, the internet, and the incredibly beautiful fall weather we have had this year in Colorado.

        It has been a strange year. So many ups and downs. I lost some family to covid including my mother. But I am thankful she is finally back home with my father. My wife was diagnosed with cancer so we are dealing with that also. She is a fighter though and wont quit ever so I am thankful for that too. 

        It hasnt been all bad though. I had many good things happen too. I got a 25% raise at my W2 starting Jan 1. The people I work for are the greatest. I am a live to work guy on my W2 and these guys are the best I have ever worked for except my father. Very thankful for this as they let me take off whenever I need for my wife's treatments. 

        I doubled income in less than 12 months with a unicorn I found last fall. And that is net income.  Very thankful of this but now I have to learn to pay state income tax (your welcome Arkansas [be thankful]). 

        I am very thankful for BP. I have been members of forums for nearly 2 decades. It takes great diligence to keep one moderated from trolls and I dont know how these guys do it but they do. This is a seriously professional place built by and for other professionals. I think even if I didnt get my money back from being a pro many times over I would pay just for that reason alone. I was not even close to being a professional when I got here. I asked stupid questions. I got serious answers and have never been flamed here. I am a professional now and because of BP, I am not worried about the what if's anymore. I have made so many connections here. Lasting connections. @Dave Foster (as soon as I can get that realtor off dead center you will be the first I call) @Justin Windham (the check is in the mail next month and thank you for years of awesome service and advice. Still want it for the LLC too.)

        But there are so many more like Jay and so many others that have helped along the way. I only hope I can help someone else as they have helped me.
