What is the most cost effective way to replace kitchen cabinets.
@Roselyn Williams - The most "cost effective" way? Go to a big box store, buy off the shelf cabinets, have someone install them. It may not loog good, but it will be cost efective.
Depends on the kitchen, the price point of the house and whether you are doing a gut renovation. If you are at a modest price point doing a gut reno with flexible layout look for a store display off craigslist or at a local cabinet place. There are also online cabinet companys and your local Chinese cabinet place. Big box is possible but depends on the house, not my favorite.
If you are doing a higher end property the suggestion above or big box solution won't sell the property so it would having increased holding costs and it would not be cost effective. Find a custom/semi custom cabinet solution for the high end home. Search kitchen cabinets- there are a ton of discussions...
@Roselyn Williams If the cabinets are in good conditions you could always refinish them if not I agree Account Closed in the past big box stores have been the cheapest solution for me.
-free from craigslist (somebody's old cabinets)
-local cabinet store/showroom/warehouse: deals, returns, need space for new inventory...
-R-T-A cabinets (ready to assemble) (if you do a search, some threads will contain online stores links also)
-you learn to do it (time consuming + need to spend for tools)
(if you add more details in you post, others can give you more detailed responses)
-depends on your budget and your expectations
Thank you all for your advise. This house is located in a middle income area and the cabinets either need to be replaced to fixed.
